Area Sq donates materials to Chineham Scout Hall as part of their "reduce, reuse, recycle" programme

As part of their reduce, reuse, recycle programme, Area Sq, the office design and fit-out specialists, have donated materials from office refurbishment project to Chineham Scout Hall to avoid waste ending up in landfill.

Area Sq donated some palettes, plywood and insulation wool from the Micro P refurbishment project in Chineham to the local Scout Hall to be reused as insulation materials. Steve Wood, Cub Scout leader says: "Area Sq not only kindly donated some materials but also carried out the work to insulate our loft; this will help save energy and reduce our heating bill significantly in the winter so we are extremely grateful".

James Cornwell, Environmental Director at Area Sq says: "Over the past four year we have endeavoured to minimise the environmental impact of our activities and the implementation of our Environmental Management System has gained us the ISO14001 accreditation. We are always keen to find environmental-friendly solutions for our site waste and our "reduce, reuse, recycle" programme introduced twelve months ago enabled us reduce our site waste by 30%."

James adds: "Our environmental initiatives have also resulted in us being listed in the Sunday Times Best Green Companies 2011 where we achieved number 1 position in the category "making the world greener". As part of our commitment towards the environment, we have introduced a number of green initiatives internally including a cycle to work scheme and are planning a volunteering tree planting project in November with a local school where staff will be getting their hands dirty".

James concludes: "We are delighted to have been able to assist Chineham Scout Hall in their energy-saving project and intend to continue helping local communities by rolling out similar initiatives".
