The 'Villagers' (Regions Agents not living in a London postcode) were to challenge the 'Townies' (Regions Property Agents living in a London postcode) in an attempt to win back the trophy from last year's match.
Area Sq hosted the event and supplied each team with a few players, including Area Sq Regions MD, Gary Chandler.
With variable weather conditions, the Townies made a great start posted a score of 135 runs with a good opening partnership between Jon Gardner (Savills) & Jeremy Rodale (Strutt and Parker). Solid batting contributions also came from contributions from Will Hunting (Aitchinson Raffety) and Roland Jordan (CBRE).
From the Villagers, noticeable bowling performances came from Gary Chandler, Steve Barrett (Hurst Warne), Charles Stevens (Maple Burton) and Jamie Renison (Strutt & Parker).
With 135 runs to chase, the Villagers took to the crease. However, after cheaply losing Richard Ford (Doherty Baines) early doors, they looked unlikely to make it.
Despite the early wicket, Andy Wilkinson (Area Sq) & Jon Rea Palmer (Lambert Smith Hampton) formed a sturdy partnership. Both perished with the total at 70 which led to a batting collapse.
After twenty overs and some first class slogging, the Villagers came up 14 runs short making the Townies victorious for the second year running.
Next year Villagers will "host" the fixture, hoping they can beat the Townies on home soil.
