Area Sq to create an engaging, activity based space for employee engagement experts, Reward Gateway

News

Following a competitive pitch, we have been awarded the exciting task of creating a flexible and agile work environment for the employee engagement experts, Reward Gateway.  This is the first time that we have worked with Reward Gateway to design a workplace that reflects their culture, values and brand image.  Based in Tottenham Court Road, the lively space will also need to accommodate future growth, encourage closer relationships between both clients and colleagues and, ultimately, push the boundaries of focus, collaboration, contemplation and performance.

Maximising the use of the latest technology, the new office space will house up to 85 employees, including Client Success, Sales, Marketing, HR, IT, Operations, Product and Finance professionals.  The flexible working model in tandem with the versatile space will support the transient workforce in a way that maximises the square footage and promotes a sense of organisational energy.

We will transform the 5,808 sq ft floor into an open and transparent, predominantly social space.  Staff engagement, employee retention and open and honest communications are of vital importance to Reward Gateway; these core values will be mirrored in the design of the workspace.  There will be a natural synergy between the personality of the brand and the spatial aesthetics.

Thanks to rapid business growth, Reward Gateway has outgrown its current office space, which is no longer fit for purpose.  Working with some of the worlds’ biggest brands on their reward and benefits schemes, the company’s mission is to make the world a happier place to work by helping employers attract, engage and retain the best talent.  The onus is on getting people to love where they work and we were tasked with bringing their workspace to life.

The agile work environment will feature hot-desking areas and a variety of work platforms.  There will also be a big subsidised café area in the heart of the space, a secret garden with biophilic carpet and casual seating; and hidden behind a traditional, residential front door will sit a small library, complete with leather wingback chairs and bursting bookcases.  In addition, the company will soon boast a “wow” reception area and a TV studio.  Reward Gateway provide their staff with healthy food so the new fully fitted kitchen will be manned by a third party caterer – everything from oven-baked dishes to popcorn will be on offer.  The kitchen will also feature urban cultivators so the team can grow their own herbs.  Brand identity is an essential element of the design process and vinyl graphics, glazing manifestations and bursts of brand colours throughout the space will ensure the company image is communicated across the floor.

Creative Director at Reward Gateway, Sevil Rahimova, said: “Reward Gateway is a design led business.  We understand the crucial part good design plays into delivering great products with seamless experiences, so we wanted the same out of our new office.  We strongly believe in Dieter Ram’s Good Design principles, so we are keen to incorporate them together with Herman Miller’s Living Office model.

We spend most of our time at work, so our new office is going to be more than a workplace – it’s going to be our new home.  It had to be perfect!  The priority was to create comfortable, human spaces that respond to staff’s needed by giving them the flexibility they need to produce their best work.  Area Sq has been instrumental in delivering this vision.”

“We’re delighted to be working with such a fun and forward-thinking organisation,” said Sion Davies, London MD of Area Sq.  “Reward Gateway specialise in employee engagement and we believe that a workspace plays a vital role in this area.  As such, it’s an honour to have been trusted with such a project and it demonstrates our commitment to creating workspaces that empower employees, as well as our shared value system when it comes to health and wellbeing at work.”

The project is expected to take nine weeks to complete.
