Area Sq transformed the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) existing 16,000 sq ft assessment centre in Croydon into a pioneering facility in a record 12 weeks. Area Sq was appointed by the Royal College on the basis that they could deliver the project within tight deadlines and to a stringent brief and budget.
Spread over three floors, the assessment centre now has three separate examination circuits, and thirty-nine 'mock' GP surgeries to enabling assessments of GP's to be undertaken in a realistic environment. To facilitate patients' examination procedures and security, Area Sq has introduced colour coding on each floor and built the interior to a very high standard.
A further business facility was incorporated on the top two floors for the Royal College to use for its own seminars and meetings as well as providing occasional use for local and national businesses. This area combined neutral colours, natural light and glass to create a modern corporate environment.
Faye Geoghegan, project team manager at the Royal College, said: "We had very demanding requirements for our new assessment and business centre. Area Sq exceeded our expectations, creating maximum impact for minimum cost. The project ran to budget, a tight timescale, and was problem free."
Dr Colin Hunter, Honorary Treasurer of the RCGP, says: "Area Sq has done an excellent job. Their remit was to come up with a modern, efficient and neutral design that would enable us to deliver a high-fidelity assessment. We are delighted with the outcome."
