Denham Capital is a global private equity firm focused on energy and commodities, with over $4.3 billion of assets under management.
Predominantly based in the US, the client decided on a new office at Lancaster Place in London as part of a phased five year growth strategy.
Denham Capital wanted to create a stylish and contemporary office space which reflected the company's success. It was also essential to create a space where clients and staff could meet and interact informally.
After a competitive tendering process involving over 15 interior design firms, Area Sq were appointed to make Denham Capital's vision a reality. Lee Ann Wilson, Director of Operations at Denham Capital says: "The Area Sq team he put together for our build out, became the front runner early on and we have never regretted the decision to utilize them for this important build out for our company."
Challenges with the building meant that Area Sq had to have a close relationship with Denham Capital to ensure the project was a success. On-going refurbishment works on the building left Area Sq with only the use of one external fire escape to deliver materials and furniture. However, by strategic phasing of the refurbishment, Area Sq’s Contracts Director Nick Thorne, ensured these obstacles were overcome and the project finished on time.
The office was finished with modern bespoke furniture supplied by Area Sq sister company, Sketch Studios.
Lee Ann concludes: "We were an extremely difficult client through the design phase, changing our minds a lot and retooling the space. It never fazed their team and they always completed each change on time and to our satisfaction."
She adds: "I can say without equivocation that if we hadn't had used Area Sq on the job, the turnout would have been different."
