PokerStars is the world's largest poker site and the home of tournament poker, attracting upwards of 300,000 players a day. As part of the expansion of their London operation, PokerStars decided to acquire an additional floor at their exisiting  central London office building.

PokerStars appointed Area Sq to deliver the refurbishment and fit-out of this new office space.

Amanda Godwin-Jones, Design Director at Area Sq, comments, "The client wanted us to make maximum use of what was already on the floor whilst creating a more contemporary and sophisticated space that sat better with the PokerStars brand."

The project was a shining example of how the renovation and re-use of furniture and partitioning can play a key roles in sustainable office design. Amanda adds, "Using the existing desk, we added cladding with black back painted glass to create something stunning from a recycled unit." Through this process, Area Sq were able to pass on savings to the client.

Further savings were made by Area Sq through the inclusion of sound proof studios and editing suites, thus discontinuing the need to rent studio time elsewhere.

In addition to the redesigning and re-siting of the reception area, Area Sq created a staff area to inspire communication as well as updating the meeting rooms in-line with PokerStars branding.

Through this project Area Sq demonstrated how they can deliver a fast-track sustainable office design and fit-out solution, whilst creating a stylish and contemporary environment in which PokerStars can continue their impressive growth.

Hanro Hennig, Estates and Facilities Manager at PokerStars concludes, "Amanda and the design team came up with great ideas and solutions, ensuring the finished product reflected our corporate image. Area Sq was both professional and easy to deal with during the design and build process."
