On the 9th September, two cricket teams comprising of Inner-city Property Agents (The Townies) and Regions Property Agents (The Villagers) took to the wicket to separate the men from the boys.
Area Sq hosted the event and supplied each team with a few players, including Fourfront Group MD, Clive Lucking and Area Regions MD, Gary Chandler.
The Townies took to the crease first, racking up a very respectable score of 163 runs in 20 overs. Noticeable performances came from Andy Wilcock of Savills and Richard Ford of Doherty Baines who scored 50 and 38 runs respectfully, before Andy retiring. The innings was finished in style with Jamie Renison of Strutt & Parker hitting 3 sixes in the closing overs. Villager Tom Leeming, of Jones Lang LaSalle, did a great job of maintaining the pressure right to the end taking 3 wickets during the innings. Gary Chandler was in the same camp taking 3 wickets, including Clive Lucking for a Duck.
With the target set, the Villagers picked up the bat with the hope of hitting out against the Townie bowlers. However, tight fielding and accurate bowling, including some spectacular dives from Richard Briggs, kept the Villagers' score down to 116 runs. Bowler Tom Vantreen was on top form taking 3 wickets, however this wasn't enough to stop Oliver Wilson, of Vail Williams, having a great bat scoring a solid 31 runs.
It was a great day had by all with superb weather and some champagne cricket performances. The rematch is already in the diary.
